Now before I get into the review, I must make a disclaimer: I am a Trekkie. Always have been, always will be. Star Trek is a flourishing franchise that gives a positive outlook on our future. The characters are compelling, the stories speak to us, and we grow as these memorable people on the screen do.Now on to the movie. Star Trek 6 is probably my second favorite of the "Original Series Movies," with number one being Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. The reason for this is simple: we see these characters at their best. The chemistry they have with each other is astounding, and is evident as only a tried-and-true cast of talented professionals can provide. One can sense the feeling of family from this cast. The story is fantastic, too. A chance at peace, a frame-up, deception, intrigue, appropriate comedy, and of course, the cast kicking ass like we love watching them do. I always get a nice feeling of nostalgia and comfort after watching this movie. The Blu-Ray of this film is remarkable (although that can be said about all of the Star Trek Blu-Ray series). There are hours of extras, and it's fun watching them all. The deleted scenes are in there, too. The picture is very crisp, although I can't review what it would look like on an HD TV as I still have an analog. But even on the analog it looks great. In my opinion, a must buy for even the casual fan of Star Trek. Just pop in the Blu-ray, sit on your favorite Lay-Z-Boy or couch, relax and watch one of the best Star Trek films ever made.
