I thought I loved "Time" when it was released last year (or has it been 2 years now!) Ok, I did love "Time," but this record....just WOW!I have not read a single review yet, but can see that it's not a ununimous 5 stars. I cannot imagine what would possess anyone to give this less than the highest rating....unless you want more of American Songbook. Not there was anything wrong with Rod deciding to do something a bit different for awhile, but enough was enough.I don't know what's going on with this man, or how he's been able to get inspired to write and record great rock and roll again, but this fan is very, very, very damn grateful.I'm a fan from the beginning. Pre Jeff Beck group "Rod The Mod," "Jeff Beck Group," "Faces," and all the solo stuff.I found a bit to love on most of his records up until...well, the aforementioned American Songbook period. I thought that after "Human" he may never try to appeal to his rock...or even pop/disco era fans. I started seeing the man perform live in 1981, and am proud to have seen him around 30 times, including a couple recent jaunts to Vegas. Now to this: I will not go track by track. I actually don't like the work of writing these things. You just have to know: I'm a fan. A fan who thought a record like this was never going to come again. I sort of said this regarding the last one. If that was a good/great LP, then this is an incredible, and instant classic. If it's not in the category of Every Picture or Never A Dull Moment.....then it's in the Atlantic Crossing, A Night On The Town, Footloose And Fancy Free level. Buy this album. If you're an old hardcore fan longing for a return to form, this is as close as you can get. If you're a fan of Blondes Have More Fun, Foolish Behaviour, Tonight I'm Yours, etc....you're going to go ape nuts for this.I bought the 2 vinyl set. The records were flat. Nice gatefold. Insert. I love that Amazon gives me the download that gets added to iTunes and is already on my iPod.C'mon now, hit the "buy" button. You're gonna be blown away. Thank you Rod, or thank your wife, or whatever is inspiring you to write and record incredible stuff again. Just WOW!
